-Vary question types and include higher-level thinking skills.

Provide opportunities for interaction.
-Use cooperative groups, buddies, etc.
-Give ample wait time for responses.

Include opportunities in lessons to apply knowledge.
-Use hands-on materials for practice.
-Include activities that integrate language skills and knowledge.

Assess student progress.
-Check often for understanding.
-Use a variety of assessments.
