Free and Reduced Meals
For any student to be able to receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch, families will need take one of the following actions:
- Enroll in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). You can apply online at: https://nheasy.nh.gov/#/apply-benefits
- Submit a free and reduced meal application to our school district. A copy of the application will be distributed to all students with back-to-school packets and is available for pick up at all school buildings and the SAU office in mid-August. The application is also provided to all families who are registering their student(s) mid-year at the SAU office. Hard copies are available in every school’s main office, as well as the SAU office located at 20 Seminary Hill, West Lebanon, NH 03784. Alternatively, a PDF copy of the application can be found below in the "School Meal Packets" attachment, or you can apply online at www.linqconnect.com.
We strongly urge all families to apply for meal benefits through one of the methods listed above, even if your family has not qualified for benefits in the past. The income eligibility guidelines set by the USDA change annually, consequently if you were not eligible in prior years you may be eligible now. Additionally, if your household size or income have changed you may be eligible if you were not previously. Many people are surprised to find that they qualify for free and reduced meals. Enrollment in the meal benefits program assists our district and our students far beyond the positive impacts on student health. Additional funding for student education, technology, scholarships, and more are all tied to meal benefit enrollment. Free and reduced applications may be submitted all year long. If your family status changes, or you didn't complete the free and reduced application at the beginning of the year that doesn't mean you missed your opportunity. The income guidelines, as well as frequently asked questions, are available below in the “School Meal Packets” file attachment.
Students who are not enrolled in free meals through one of the methods above and choose to participate in the school meals program will be charged per meal and need to have funds added to their food service program account.
The Free and Reduced Meals Application is completed by families for reduced price breakfast and lunch under the National School Lunch Program. A new form must be submitted annually to qualify for this program. The Free and Reduced Meals Application is updated annually. If the form submitted does not have the current school year listed on the top of the form, it cannot be processed and you will be asked to fill out the current form.
