English Language Learners
We believe that our multilingual students have the right to meaningful access to rigorous instruction, materials, and academic choices across all content areas. We advocate for equity for multilingual learners and their families while supporting and celebrating their cultural and linguistic identities.
We do this by providing formal ELL instruction using appropriate instructional materials. ELL students participate in the mainstream curriculum with collaboration and accommodations from the ELL Program. Instruction focuses on developing English communication and academic language skills through listening, speaking, reading, and writing for success in school. The ELL curriculum is closely aligned to the mainstream curriculum and to the WIDA language proficiency standards.
