A stage full of student musicians perform at a school concert

Good morning Lebanon School District Community,

In March, Lebanon voters approved the school district budget, and we are grateful for the community's continued trust and investment in our students. There's a sense of momentum as we enter the final stretch of the year — a time full of energy, milestones, and the kinds of experiences that students carry with them.

The weeks ahead are filled with the traditions and milestones that define the spring season, like drama performances, spring sports, Senior Tea and Lunch, Watershed Congress, and a myriad of other activities. We can feel the energy in our schools right now — students and staff alike seem to feel the season turning, and with it, a sense of possibility and purpose.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and your presence in the life of our schools.

In Partnership,

Amy Allen

Superintendent

A class of kindergarteners look up at their teacher delivering a lesson on the letter Q using a Smart Board.

The Lebanon School District has transformed its literacy education over the past four years by adopting a Structured Literacy approach rooted in the Science of Reading. Using evidence-based programs like UFLI Foundations, teachers provide explicit phonics instruction that has led to remarkable results. Notably, the percentage of kindergarteners meeting literacy benchmarks jumped from 44% to 89% during the 2024-25 school year.

Beyond phonics, the district introduced the Arts and Letters program to build background knowledge and vocabulary. This student-centered model combines systematic whole-class lessons with small-group instruction tailored to individual needs. Supported by ongoing professional development and a common language among educators, Lebanon is successfully outperforming national averages for reading growth and achievement. By fostering a collaborative effort between schools and families, the district is building a community of confident, lifelong readers.

Good morning Lebanon School Community,

I hope you had a restful February break. It is wonderful to see everyone back at school today.

I want to remind you that on Tuesday, March 10, our community will vote on the Lebanon School District budget and warrant. Throughout the budget process, we have kept one guiding principle at the heart of our work: students first. From the beginning, our proposed budget was designed to support high-quality instruction, safe and welcoming learning environments, and the skills outlined in our Vision of a Learner, ensuring every student is challenged to reach their full potential.
